How Scametric reviews websites

Scametric independently investigates online investment and financial platforms so you can see who operates them, what they offer, whether they are on a real register, and what evidence exists about withdrawals and complaints.

We are not a regulator and we do not recover funds. A verdict is an evidence-based assessment, not an absolute declaration that a court has ruled. Appears legitimate does not mean a safe investment. A warning list is not a conviction.

Identify → Verify → Investigate → Assess → Explain

  1. Identify the website, brand, and any legal name on the page.
  2. Verify that name on the regulator’s own register and on company registries when a number is published. We do not trust a logo in a footer.
  3. Investigate the offer: yields, lock-ups, fees, wallet-connect, recovery rooms.
  4. Assess withdrawals and complaints. Multiple people have reported lost or locked funds on the high-risk class.
  5. Explain the verdict in plain language, with sources you can open.

What “platforms reviewed” means

The homepage count is every host with a public Scametric URL. Most of those pages are warning-list screens: a Bank of Russia, California DFPI, or HYIP-monitor record turned into a searchable review. A smaller set are desk investigations written in full. Both are indexed. They are not the same depth.

How AI is used

Software helps us ingest public lists, classify hosts, and draft directory pages. Desk investigations are written and checked by a human editor. We do not sell grades. If we recommend an alternative, that link is disclosed on the page and in About.

Verdicts

  • High risk — we would not deposit. That is editorial opinion, not a court conviction.
  • Caution — a real firm or a mixed record. Read the page. Not a clean bill of health.
  • Appears legitimate — public records look like a genuine business. Still verify the licence yourself. Not a guarantee.

Sources

We prefer primary records: regulator registers, warning PDFs, company filings, and the live website. Secondary desks are cited when they add a date or a score we checked. We do not invent named victims.

Corrections

Factual corrections and a right of reply: contact. A URL we have not reviewed: report a platform.

Frequently asked questions

What does Scametric actually check?

Identity of the operator, whether the host matches a real regulator register, whether the offer is a market or a script, and whether withdrawals are documented. We look the firm up on the regulator’s own register, not on a logo in a footer.

Does “appears legitimate” mean the investment is safe?

No. It means public records look like a genuine business. Fees, lock-ups, and market risk still apply. Verify the licence yourself.

Does a high-risk verdict mean a court found a scam?

No. High risk is editorial opinion: we would not deposit on the evidence in front of us. It is not a criminal conviction.

Why does Scametric list tens of thousands of platforms?

The directory includes warning-list screens (Bank of Russia, California DFPI, HYIP monitors) plus longer desk investigations. A directory page is a public-record screen, not a courtroom file.

Does AI write the verdicts?

Software helps ingest lists, classify hosts, and draft directory pages. Desk investigations are written and checked by a human editor. Platforms do not pay for a better grade.
